This image is a 10 shot panorama covering approximately 220 degrees of view and features the full arc of our Milky Way galaxy and a Northern Lights display. Captured during our April 2015 night sky workshop at Sandy Point Beach park in Stockton Springs, Maine. Over the spring months these huge chunks of ice and snow - some of them larger than a small car - break off the edges of the Penobscot River and flow down to the Atlantic Ocean, occasionally stopping during low tide at certain spots. The white light that is surrounded by the Northern Lights on the left hand side of this image is light pollution coming from the town of Bucksport.
